Canada: Parliamentary demands to implement a bill to combat Islamophobia

Canadian Member of Parliament, Tom Rakocevic, called on his country’s government to take action and implement a bill to eliminate Islamophobia, which has risen in Canada recently.
Rakocevic, an Ontario legislator representing the New National Democratic Party, posted a video clip on his Twitter account, stressing his rejection of Islamophobia.
He told a plenary session of the Canadian Parliament, “People go to places of worship seeking peace, safety and tranquility. Last week, that peace was broken when someone threw a large stone at one of the windows of Tariq Mosque while people were praying.”
“Thank God no one was injured, but not all injuries are physical,” Rakocevic added. “The Muslim community has been shaken by incidents of hate and Islamophobia.”
“Last June, four members of one family were killed in a targeted incident, simply because of their beliefs,” he said.
He added, directing his words to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, “Mr. President, unfortunately, we have had many incidents of hate and Islamophobia that have made Muslims feel insecure. There is no place for hatred and Islamophobia in our country or anywhere else.”
Rakocevic concluded his speech by saying, “The National Council of Canadian Muslims has issued 61 recommendations to all levels of government to eradicate Islamophobia.”
He called on the Canadian government to implement the bill to combat Islamophobia so that we can eradicate hatred.
It is noteworthy that the Canadian police arrested a man in his fifties last week, a few hours after he threw a stone at Tariq Mosque in Ontario, smashing one of its windows.
