US Department of Homeland Security officials are concerned that far-right groups could carry out violent attacks inside the country after the Taliban terrorist movement took control of Afghanistan, according to reports.
John Cohen, the head of the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis, revealed in a phone call with local law enforcement officials that groups of white supremacists have had discussions about the concept of the “Great Replacement,” the belief that Afghan refugees or other immigrants might threaten the standing and authority of white Americans. Cohen emphasized that there are concerns that these accounts may incite violent activities directed against refugee communities and certain religious communities.
These comments come following similar assessments by the SITE Intelligence Group that the Taliban terrorist takeover of Afghanistan has stimulated right-wing extremist communities, whether through a desire to emulate the Taliban or the increasingly violent rhetoric of the invasions.
