The Library of al-Abbas Holy Shrine: One of four libraries in the world recognized by IFLA

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) presented a letter of recognition to the Center for Cataloging and Information Systems of the Library and Manuscripts House at al-Abbas Holy Shrine, only one of four libraries in the world and the only one in Iraq.
This was published on IFLA’s official website, in recognition of libraries as partners in the implementation of the 2021 Sustainable Development Goals, and in the field of experiences by participating in the voluntary national review process.
The Director of the Center in the Library of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, Hasanein al-Mousawi, told al-Kafeel Network, “This recognition came following the participation of the Cataloging and Information Systems Center in the first Voluntary National Review process of the Vision of Sustainable Development 2021 (VNRs). The report was prepared for quite some time, and great efforts have been put into it, such as participating in relevant conferences and events, because we are one of the contributors to this vision, in addition to our participation in workshops with the Ministry of Planning.”
The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is the leading international body representing the interests of people who rely on libraries and information professionals, and includes members from 150 countries worldwide.
