First batch of tourists arrive at Najaf International Airport after the Iraqi Council of Ministers approved the resumption of religious tourism

The Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Hassan Nazim, announced the arrival of the first batch of tourists to Najaf International Airport.
Nazim said, in a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, that “the Council of Ministers approved the resumption of religious tourism between Iraq and the countries of the world,” noting that “this decision comes based on the Ministry of Culture’s address to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers about a year ago in its letter No. 7730 on 12/7/2020, and subsequent letters.”
He added, “The decision to resume religious tourism is an achievement for the Ministry and the Tourism Authority,” noting that “the process of grouping tourists will take place in a calculated manner, while following health protocols.”
He continued, “We have started with this decision from Friday, with the arrival of tourists to Najaf Airport, which means support for the tourism sector and hotels in particular, especially in religious cities.”
