Canadian television broadcasted the call to prayer and verses from the Noble Quran at a memorial service for four members from one Muslim family who were killed by a young man who deliberately ran over them by a pickup truck in London, Ontario.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who attended the memorial service, described the incident as an act of terrorism, adding that their lives were lost in a brutal and cowardly act, stressing that this killing was not a coincidence, but it was a terrorist attack motivated by hatred.
The National Council of Canadian Muslims called on the country’s government to hold an immediate summit on Islamophobia.
The call came against the backdrop of the killing of 4 members of a Muslim family, on Sunday, and the serious injury of a 9-year-old boy after a deliberate run-over in London, Ontario.
The council launched an online petition, which gathered more than 22,000 signatures, to demand effective action against the acts of violence against Muslims in the country.
