British Representative Ed Davey welcomed the election of the first Muslim woman to the Greater London Assembly, saying it is a great addition.
“I am proud to see Hina Bukhari as an elected member of the Greater London Assembly. Hina is the first Muslim woman to be elected to the GLA. I know she will do a great job alongside Caroline Pidgeon AM,” Davy said on his Twitter page.
The association is an elected body of 25 members that audits the work and activities of the mayor of the municipality, and works to amend the annual budget or reject projects.
The association has the right to discuss issues such as transportation, the environment, and present its proposals to the mayor.
