Misbah al-Hussein Foundation launches the ‘Six Thousand Food Baskets’ project to feed the fasting poor


The campaign to distribute six thousand food baskets, initiated by Misbah al-Hussein Foundation for Relief and Development during the great month of Ramadan, was launched in the holy city of Karbala.
The humanitarian and charitable project targets the underprivileged families and Iraqi orphans, and is being held in cooperation with the British IHDRF.
The foundation said in a statement received by Shia Waves, “The project includes distributing six thousand food baskets to the underprivileged families and orphans during the holy month, in order to lend a helping hand to them.”
The statement added, “One basket contains 11 basic food items such as rice, chicken, tomato paste, tea, sugar, milk, dates, oil, chickpeas, lentils and beans.”
The Foundation also called on all the benevolent believers to contribute to this great humanitarian project, and help feed the largest number of the fasting poor.
It is worth noting that the Misbah al-Hussein Foundation for Relief and Development operates under the auspices of the Office of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, in the holy city of Karbala.
