Major celebrations in the Indian city of Lucknow to commemorate the joyous month of Sha’ban


An atmosphere of joy and pleasure is spreading in the Indian city of Lucknow, on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Imam Hussein, al-Abbas and Imam Zain al-Abideen, peace be upon them, as a large number of residents participated in the joyous celebrations that roamed the city streets on the auspicious occasion.
The followers of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, went out in Lucknow, in a unified procession, in which men, women, children and adults alike participated to express their happiness for the birth anniversaries and the blessed month of Sha’ban.
The manifestations of joy spread in the Indian city, as decorations were hung on the facades of houses, shops and markets, while young children rode horses and camels as part of special programs and rituals during the revival of joyous occasions for the birth anniversaries of Imams, peace be upon them.
According to a Hindi newspaper, some extremists expressed their annoyance at such celebrations, describing them as polytheism.
The imam of the Shia mosque in Lucknow, Sheikh Khaled Rashid Franji, responded to the extremists in a statement saying, “Those celebrating the birth anniversary of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, did not establish anything outside of religion or laws,” adding that “everyone should act according to religion and not interfere with the beliefs of others.”
