Shia and Sunni Endowments adopt the International Day of the Holy Quran under the auspices of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine
The Holy Quran House at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine announced that the Quran bodies affiliated with the Shia and Sunni endowments have agreed to adopt the International Day of the Holy Quran as a prelude to addressing the relevant government agencies.
The director of the Holy Quran House at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Sheikh Hassan al-Mansouri, said, “As part of the series of measures followed and planned to expand the campaign for the International Day of the Holy Quran, the director of the National Center for the Holy Quran Sciences at the Shia Endowments Office and the director of the Iraqi Center for the Holy Quran at the Sunni Endowments Office were invited on an agreement to approve the 27th of Rajab as a special day for the Holy Quran, and to address government agencies to follow up on this file and the procedures related to it, while submitting a recommendation to the United Nations General Assembly for global approval.”
He explained, “The agreement included the formation of a higher preparatory committee that includes representatives of the Quran houses at the holy shrines and the two endowments to activate this campaign, each according to his position, in addition to launching large campaigns to spread the Quranic culture and educate society on peaceful coexistence, love and harmony between different religious denominations and groups.”
