French academic: Our politicians are taking advantage of terrorism to suppress Muslims

The French economist, Thomas Piketty, known for his famous book “Capital in the 21st Century”, said that his country’s politicians are taking advantage of terrorism to suppress Muslims in France.
This came in a tweet published by Piketty, through his Twitter account, in which he condemned the targeting of the French Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blancer, the National Union of French Students (UNEF), and accusing him of being an “Islamic leftist and an agent of destruction.”
The French academic added, “It is unethical for politicians to use terrorism to their advantage. This is the strategy of nationalist Hindus, who for 10 years have been affixing the accusation of treason and terrorism to anyone who defends the Muslim minority.”
Piketty called on the French Minister of Education Blancier, the French Minister of the Interior Gerald Dermanan, and the philosopher Pascal Bruckner for “an end to such racist speeches.”
The National Union of French Students considered the Minister of Education’s accusations “unacceptable and unworthy of the Minister of National Education.”
“The suggestion that we are spreading an ideology specific to radical Islam, or saying that we sympathize with it, through our actions, is evidence of ignorance,” the union said in a statement.
During the past few days, France witnessed the publication of insulting images and cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny, on the facades of buildings, which sparked a wave of anger throughout the Islamic world.
