Terrorist plot to target pilgrims thwarted in Baghdad


The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in Iraq, Major General Yahya Rasoul, announced that a terrorist plot to target the Arbaeen pilgrims had been foiled in Baghdad.
Rasoul said in a statement, “Through continuous follow-up, the Counter-Terrorism Service carried out a special operation north of the capital, Baghdad, and thwarted a terrorist plot to target the pilgrims of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, through two suicide terrorists.”
He pointed out that “their arrest came according to accurate intelligence information and a great effort by the heroes of the Counter-Terrorism Service.”
