Afghan man fatally shot by police during traffic stop in Virginia, USA

An Afghan national, Jamal Wali, was fatally shot by police during a traffic stop in Fairfax, Virginia, after he opened fire on officers, Khaama Press reported. The April 23 incident began when police pulled Wali over for speeding and expired registration.

Wali, 36, became hostile, declared he was armed, and shot two officers. A third officer returned fire, fatally wounding him. Bodycam footage confirmed Wali’s aggression.

The injured officers sustained non-life-threatening wounds. The case is under investigation, and the officer involved has been placed on restricted duty. Wali had lived in the U.S. since 2014.
