A shocking wave of anti-Muslim hate crimes has gripped India following the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack, according to a report by the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR). Between April 22 and May 8, the group documented 184 incidents targeting Muslims and Kashmiris—ranging from hate speeches and assaults to property destruction and murder.
The report details 84 hate speeches, 39 assaults, 19 acts of vandalism, and three lynchings—all backed by official sources. In Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, a Muslim man was brutally killed by members of the far-right Kshatriya Gau Raksha Dal. In Karnataka and Jharkhand, two others were lynched under false pretexts, as police remained passive or complicit.
Victims included children, students, shopkeepers, and religious leaders. Attacks also targeted Islamic schools, homes, clinics, and even graveyards. In some cases, police reportedly encouraged the violence or arrested victims for speaking out—raising grave concerns over state complicity in escalating communal tensions.
