The Karbala Municipality inaugurated its first annual flower exhibition on Wednesday, with broad participation from local municipal departments, the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and Al-Abbas, and several private sector institutions. The event aims to promote environmental awareness, tree planting, and urban beautification.
According to Atheer Talib, head of the Parks and Gardens Division in Al-Hindiya, all municipal departments in the province showcased their floral designs and plant displays to encourage home gardening and expand green spaces in the city. The exhibition aligns with directives from both central and local governments to increase tree and flower planting across Iraq for a cleaner, healthier environment.
Organizers emphasized that such events help highlight the role of environmental and civic institutions while integrating ecological efforts with Karbala’s cultural and aesthetic heritage. The exhibition also seeks to strengthen public engagement with environmental protection amidst growing ecological challenges.
