Al-Alamiya Airlines has launched the first-ever direct flight between Holy Najaf and Holy Medina, marking a milestone for Najaf International Airport. This follows a similar flight from Baghdad to Medina a day earlier. In a press conference, the airline announced that two modern aircraft, each with a 196-passenger capacity, operated the inaugural flights.
The company also revealed plans to expand its fleet by acquiring two more aircraft in June, aiming for a total of six planes. Currently focused on transporting pilgrims and Umrah travelers from Iraq to Medina, the airline plans to add return flights via Jeddah to increase travel flexibility.
Future expansions include regional destinations like Istanbul, Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait, as part of a strategy to strengthen its presence in the Iraqi market and connect with regional hubs. The initiative aims to ease religious travel and meet the growing demand from Iraqi cities.
