A roadside explosion in Quetta’s busy Berch Market area killed two people and injured at least 17 others on Thursday, according to local officials. The blast occurred near a police vehicle along Double Road, causing panic among residents.
Authorities confirmed that the injured were taken to Civil Hospital’s trauma center, with four in critical condition. Officials stated that the explosion targeted law enforcement, and an investigation is underway to determine its cause.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Pakistani leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, condemned the incident and attributed it to terrorist elements. Balochistan has seen a surge in attacks in recent months, with security forces frequently targeted.
