Millions of mourners commemorate martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali

Millions of mourners gathered at the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali in Holy Najaf to mark the anniversary of his martyrdom, recalling the tragic moment when he was struck in the Kufa Mosque. The commemoration unfolded in an atmosphere of deep sorrow and devotion, as visitors from around the world paid tribute to the legacy of the Commander of the Faithful.

As the call to prayer echoed through the shrine, emotions intensified when the muezzin recited the third testimony: “I bear witness that Ali is the Wali of Allah.” Tears flowed freely as the lights of the shrine dimmed, symbolizing the moment Imam Ali (peace be upon him) fell to a treacherous strike.

Attendees solemnly repeated the historic lament: “By Allah, the pillars of guidance have collapsed,” while reflecting on his final words: “By the Lord of the Kaaba, I have succeeded.” The commemoration featured mourning gatherings, elegies, and recitations highlighting Imam Ali’s (peace be upon him) role in upholding justice and guiding the Islamic nation.
