Austrian knife attack suspect linked to ISIS, officials confirm

Austrian security officials have confirmed that the suspect in a recent knife attack in Villach had pledged allegiance to ISIS, news reports said. The attack, carried out by a Syrian migrant, resulted in the death of a 14-year-old and injured five others. Authorities reported that the suspect had sworn allegiance to the group online and was carrying its flag during the assault.
A driver intervened by using his car to stop the attacker, preventing further casualties. The incident has raised security concerns in Austria, especially following a similar attack in Munich, Germany, where an Afghan migrant drove into a crowd, killing two and injuring at least 30 others.
Germany and Austria have implemented policies to deport migrants from Afghanistan and Syria in an effort to mitigate security risks. The recent attacks have renewed discussions on balancing migration policies with national security measures.
