Grand Ayatollah Shirazi urges Islamic governments to uphold justice and fulfill their responsibilities
The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, has called on Muslims—men and women, scholars and intellectuals—to remain steadfast in performing deeds that earn the pleasure of Allah, emphasizing that everyone in this world is under His watchful gaze.
In his address, the senior religious authority highlighted that history is filled with both blessings and trials decreed by Allah for humanity. He stressed that the ultimate goal is how people handle these blessings and hardships to achieve success in both this life and the hereafter.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi pointed out that the responsibility today lies with governments, asserting that Allah observes how both Islamic and non-Islamic governments treat their people. He stated, “Authority today rests with our existing governments; Allah watches how they deal with their citizens.”
The Grand Marja emphasized that Islamic governments, in particular, must ensure social justice, uphold human dignity, and foster values of compassion, care, and social welfare in accordance with Islamic principles. He warned against tyranny and injustice, stressing that rulers bear a great responsibility before Allah for their actions.
Additionally, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi urged merchants to use their wealth for the benefit of society and called on both men and women to invest their talents and abilities in constructive endeavors. He also underscored the need for tribes and religious groups to interact with one another based on mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
