Syrian authorities have uncovered a new mass grave in the town of Khan Al-Asal on the outskirts of Aleppo, containing approximately 20,000 bodies.
Officials from the new Syrian administration reported five mass graves in the city, with the largest being in Khan Al-Asal.
Around 10,000 bodies have been documented with serial numbers, having been handed over by security branches to gravediggers and burial centers, who buried them and recorded the numbers.
The remaining bodies were executed on-site and buried in the same mass graves, with only numbers documented and no additional details.
Officials confirmed that strict security measures have been implemented around the mass graves, pending the arrival of international committees to assist in exhuming the bodies and identifying them.
