Germany urges support for Afghan refugees facing deportation in Pakistan

The German government has raised concerns over Pakistan’s deportation of Afghan refugees, many of whom face prolonged waits for resettlement visas, according to a report by InfoMigrants.

Germany acknowledged the worsening conditions for Afghan refugees in Pakistan and emphasized the importance of ensuring their protection, emphasizing that it is working with Pakistani authorities to address these challenges and support vulnerable individuals.

Pakistan hosts an estimated 3–4 million Afghan refugees, but their legal status remains unresolved. Over 3,000 Afghans approved for relocation to Germany are stuck in Pakistan, often waiting months for visa processing due to bureaucratic delays. These individuals traveled to Pakistan for resettlement as Germany has no embassy in Afghanistan.
