At least 8 civilians killed, over 50 injured in artillery shelling in Sudan

At least eight civilians were killed and 53 others injured in artillery shelling by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, and El Fasher in North Darfur State, local authorities said on Saturday.

In Khartoum, shelling targeted Karari locality in Omdurman and Sharq Alneel locality, leaving four dead and 43 injured. The wounded were transported to hospitals for treatment, the Khartoum State Health Ministry reported.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) stated that four civilians were killed and 10 others injured in similar attacks on residential areas in El Fasher, without further comments on the incidents.

Sudan has been engulfed in conflict between the SAF and RSF since April 2023, with ongoing clashes in El Fasher since May 2024. The fighting has caused over 29,000 deaths and displaced more than 14 million people, according to international estimates.
