Syria: SDF reports killing of 16 fighters amid clashes with SNA

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Tuesday that 16 of its fighters were killed during clashes with Syrian National Army (SNA) rebels in Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor provinces, media outlets reported.

The SDF described the fighters’ actions as critical in countering attacks by Turkish-backed forces.
The SDF claims that these offensives, conducted by the Ankara-supported SNA, have disrupted its counter-ISIS operations.

In response to Turkey’s actions in northern Syria, US Senators Chris Van Hollen and Lindsey Graham introduced sanctions targeting Ankara. SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi has warned of an increasing ISIS threat, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict with Turkey-aligned militias in northern Syria.
