Egypt allocates 11 billion EGP to develop Ahlulbayt shrines and historical mosques

Egypt has achieved significant progress in restoring and developing Islamic heritage sites, with a focus on historical mosques and shrines of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them. Approximately 11 billion EGP has been allocated to preserve these culturally and spiritually significant landmarks.

The development efforts include structural enhancements and highlighting the historical importance of these sites, boosting cultural and religious tourism. Key projects involve the restoration of numerous locations in Historic Cairo, such as 14 sites in Al-Muizz Street by December 2023 and an additional 21 by October 2024.

These initiatives are part of a comprehensive state plan to safeguard Islamic heritage, alongside recovering around 30,000 artifacts and restoring major museums.
