Iraqi airstrikes kill five ISIS suspects in Kirkuk

Iraqi security forces announced the killing of five suspected ISIS members in airstrikes on a hideout in the Zgheitoun Valley, west of Kirkuk, on Saturday.

The operation, conducted by F-16 jets based on intelligence, targeted a location used by ISIS militants, according to the Iraqi Security Media Cell.

During a follow-up investigation, security forces discovered the bodies of the suspects alongside weapons, explosive belts, grenades, and communications equipment. The hideout and its contents were destroyed.

The operation is part of Iraq’s intensified campaign against ISIS remnants, which remain active in remote areas of provinces such as Kirkuk, Anbar, and Nineveh. Similar operations last week in the same area killed four other suspects.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani has reaffirmed support for ongoing efforts to eradicate ISIS, stating the country will not tolerate the presence of terrorists.
