SRW releases its October report on anti-Shia violations
Shia Rights Watch (SRW), a pro-Shia rights group, has released its October report, detailing numerous violations against Shia communities across several countries.
The report highlights terrorist attacks, repression, and arbitrary arrests affecting individuals and groups, while noting difficulties in documenting all incidents due to limited evidence and witnesses.
In Iran, SRW documented terror attacks by armed groups in Sistan-Baluchestan, resulting in fatalities and injuries among police and civilians, heightening concerns over rising violence in the region.
In Pakistan, the report said that Shia Muslims faced violence, including attacks on workers and worshippers and assassinations of activists, documenting arbitrary detentions of Shia rights advocates, worsening the community’s security situation.
According to the rights group, Bahrain saw widespread arrests, interrogations, and an assault on worshippers at the Imam al-Sadiq Mosque in Diraz by security forces, increasing tensions within Shia circles.
In Saudi Arabia, authorities detained a group of Iraqi Shia pilgrims over anti-war statements concerning Lebanon, sparking discontent over increased restrictions on Shia practices.
In Iraq, the report said that bombings targeting civilians caused casualties, adding to widespread fears about the safety of Shia communities in public spaces.
SRW urged the international community to step in to protect Shia populations, emphasizing its commitment to justice and equality, irrespective of political affiliations.
