Large numbers of Lebanese citizens are fleeing southern Lebanon towards Syria following hundreds of airstrikes launched by the Israeli army on the region, news sources told Shia Waves Agency.
Waves of displacement began at dawn, with many families expected to reach the Sayyida Zainab area, seeking safety amid the difficult conditions they are facing due to the military escalation.
In this context, appeals have been made to the Husseini Service Mawakib to head to the Sayyida Zainab area and prepare to provide support and relief to the displaced. These appeals call for solidarity with the displaced and for providing essential aid, including shelter and basic necessities.
In response, Iraqi service groups immediately responded to the call, coordinating to send relief and service teams to Syria as soon as possible.
Residents of the Sayyida Zainab area and surrounding regions have also been urged to open their homes to the displaced, to alleviate their burden and offer protection and support during these difficult times.
At least 492 people have been killed in intense and wide-ranging Israeli air strikes targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon, the country’s health ministry says, in the deadliest day of conflict there in almost 20 years.
Lebanon has been witnessing military escalation for the past two days, with the Israeli army conducting hundreds of airstrikes following the explosions of communication devices that occurred a few days prior to these operations.
