Malaysia’s PM: Students of Quranic institutes should be equipped with necessary knowledge to combat Islamophobia
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of equipping students at Quranic memorization institutes in Malaysia with the correct Islamic teachings to confront Islamophobia and the intellectual challenges facing Islam in the current era.
The PM’s statement came during a speech delivered before a gathering of Quran memorization students, where he stressed that addressing Islamophobia and countering attempts to distort the image of the religion requires strong preparation based on a proper understanding of Islam.
The Prime Minister noted that Islam in Malaysia is at a crossroads, pointing out that some groups are distorting its sanctity and spreading false ideas about the religion. Therefore, he called for enhancing the correct understanding of Islam among Quranic memorization students so they can effectively counter these misguided ideas and defend the true message of Islam, which is rooted in justice, unity, love, and mercy.
Ibrahim affirmed that while respecting the rights of non-Muslims in Malaysia, it is essential to prevent them from introducing anti-Islamic Western perspectives and attempts to negatively influence society.
The Malaysian PM stated that Quranic institute students should carry the banner of defending Islam in a scientific and rational manner, considering that their future is bright if they adhere to the true message of Islam.
