Scholarly circles mourn demise of Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Shirazi

Religious and scholarly circles mourned the passing of the eldest son of the Supreme Religious Authority Grand Ayatollah Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Shirazi, who passed away on Sunday afternoon in the holy city of Qom.

The honourable hawzas in Iraq and the Islamic world expressed deep sorrow over the loss of this pious scholar, who was an exemplary defender of the teachings of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.

They extended their heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, praying that God Almighty grants him His mercy and gives patience and solace to his loved ones and family.

According to the official website of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi, the funeral procession for the deceased will take place on Tuesday, the 8th of Safar, at 5:00 p.m., starting from the honourable residence of the Supreme Religious Authority in the holy city of Qom towards the sacred shrine of Sayyeda Fatima al-Ma’suma, peace be upon her.

The website added that a memorial service will also be held for his pure soul at Grand Ayatollah Shirazi’s residence after the Maghrib and Isha prayers.

It is worth mentioning that Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Shirazi was a prominent scholar who continued to serve the Shariah and promote the teachings of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, following in this the path of his noble forefathers.
