Deadly landslides and floods, triggered by heavy rainfall, have killed at least eight people in southeastern Myanmar, according to a report by Anadolu Agency and the Eleven Media Group. Several others are reported missing.

The landslides extensively damaged homes, roads, and bridges in the town of Thandaunggyi, located in Kayin state. The severe weather has also disrupted communication networks, which is hindering ongoing search and rescue operations.
