Myanmar Junta Airstrikes Kill 50 Civilians Over Three Days

Myanmar’s military junta carried out airstrikes over three days, killing 50 civilians and injuring nearly 80, RFA reported. The attacks involved the dropping of bombs ranging from 300 to 500 pounds and included strafing by aircraft.
Among the casualties were men, women, and children, including several young children and elderly civilians. The strikes destroyed civilian infrastructure such as school dormitories and targeted residential areas, a monastery during a religious ceremony, and a camp for internally displaced people.
In one attack, six family members were killed when a bomb hit a store directly. Other incidents resulted in multiple injuries, including children as young as three and five years old. Despite ceasefires declared after a recent earthquake, the military continued operations against areas suspected of harboring insurgents.
The exiled civilian government condemned the attacks and vowed to respond. The military has not issued any public statements regarding the airstrikes.
