22 Somalis Killed in Boat Capsizing Off Madagascar Coast
In a tragic incident off the coast of Madagascar, two boats carrying Somali migrants capsized, resulting in the deaths of 22 individuals, Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.
The boats, which were transporting a total of 70 passengers, faced difficulties in the Indian Ocean. Somali Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, Abdullahi Warfa, confirmed that 48 survivors were rescued by local fishermen and received medical care.
The exact date of the incident remains undisclosed, but bodies were recovered on Saturday. An investigation is ongoing, with the names of the victims expected to be released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
