The Global Nonviolence Organization “Freemuslim” has voiced strong concern over a recent Israeli legislative move that would broaden state surveillance capabilities. In a statement reported by Shia Waves Agency, the group criticized the Knesset’s initial approval of a bill extending an order that grants the Israeli military and the Shin Bet expanded authority to access computer systems linked to fixed security cameras.

According to the organization, the measure poses significant risks to digital sovereignty and information security, arguing that it could enable large-scale monitoring and intrusion into private data. While the bill is framed as a security tool, the group warned that its implications may extend beyond the occupied Palestinian territories, potentially affecting digital infrastructure and information flows in neighboring Arab states.

The group described the proposal as part of a broader trend toward enhanced regional surveillance that may undermine civil liberties, personal privacy, and protections against state overreach. It urged the United Nations, international rights bodies, and global governments to scrutinize the legislation, press for its reversal, and examine any cross-border surveillance activities conducted under its provisions.
