Muslim Community in Dublin Calls for Reopening of ICCI Mosque

A group called Muslim Community Ireland held a press conference in Dublin urging the reopening of the mosque at the Islamic Community Centre of Ireland (ICCI) in Clonskeagh, The Irish Times reported.

The mosque, the largest in Ireland, closed abruptly last week following an internal dispute and an alleged altercation on April 19. While the Muslim National School and creche have reopened, the mosque remains closed.

Group chairman Abdul Haseeb described the mosque as “the heartbeat of our community,” emphasizing its importance for spiritual comfort and belonging. He expressed concern over the emotional impact of the closure on thousands of worshippers and called for the mosque to reopen for daily prayers, Friday prayers, and Eid, while other issues are resolved separately.

The group has gathered over 2,400 petition signatures supporting reopening and is willing to cooperate with the Al Maktoum Foundation and ICCI management. Haseeb appealed for open, transparent dialogue, criticizing the lack of communication and timeline for reopening.
