A fire at a drone manufacturing facility in Jakarta killed 22 people on December 9, Khaama Press reported. Officials said the blaze broke out inside a building used by the company and took three hours to extinguish. The victims, identified as seven men and 15 women, died primarily from smoke inhalation, according to police.

Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the incident, examining the possibility of equipment malfunction or safety violations. The fire has renewed concerns about workplace safety in Indonesia, where industrial accidents have caused multiple casualties in the past.

Experts warn that weak safety standards and limited emergency preparedness in factories heighten the risk of mass fatalities during fires. Officials said support is being provided to the victims’ families, and regulatory agencies are expected to strengthen oversight of fire safety measures in industrial facilities.
