Indonesia’s Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano erupted on Friday, sending an ash column nearly 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) high from its summit, Anadolu Agency reported citing the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation. The ash plume reached over 11.5 kilometers (7.1 miles) above sea level.

No casualties have been reported so far. Authorities have advised locals and tourists to keep a safe distance of six to seven kilometers (3.7 to 4.3 miles) from the volcano.

In November last year, an eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki resulted in at least nine deaths and numerous injuries. The 1,584-meter (5,197-foot) volcano also erupted in March and July without causing any casualties.

Lewotobi Laki-Laki is part of a twin volcano system alongside Mount Lewotobi Perempuan, located in the Flores Timur district. Indonesia, home to 120 active volcanoes, lies along the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” a major seismic fault zone.
