Wooden vessel transporting dozens of Rohingya Muslim refugees overturns near Indonesia’s coast

A wooden boat carrying Rohingya Muslims capsized off Indonesia’s coast, with six survivors, four women and two men, rescued by local fishermen, the Associate Press reported.

The refugees’ boat sank about 16 miles off Kuala Bubon Beach in Aceh province, pushed by strong currents, the news agency stated.

About 740,000 Rohingya were resettled in Bangladesh to flee the brutal counterinsurgency campaign by security forces in their homeland of Myanmar, but thousands have been trying to escape overcrowded camps in the host country.
