Ahlulbayt followers in Kashmir participate in funeral of prominent Shia Sheikh
Shias of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) in Kashmir, yesterday Tuesday, bid farewell to the late Shia leader Sheikh Abbas Ansari, in a solemn funeral in which the participants, men and women, shed tears at his painful death.
In a statement translated by Shia Waves News Agency, the ‘Indian Kashmir’ newspaper said: “The mourners cried a lot for the departure of the Shia leader, who had honorable positions in defending the doctrine of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).”
Official and religious bodies in the city of Srinagar in the Kashmir region announced the death of Shia leader Sheikh Abbas Ansari, who died at the age of 86.
Sheikh Ansari is considered one of the most prominent Shia leaders in the region, and he held the position of President of the Muslim Union, and President of the Conference on Religious Freedom, and was known for his honorable positions in defending the rights of Shias to worship and perform Husseini rituals, as well as the right of Kashmiris to independence.
