India: AIMPLB Plans Massive Public Meeting Against Waqf Act in November
—————————————
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced a large public demonstration in New Delhi to protest the Waqf Amendment Act, according to a report by AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA).
The gathering is scheduled for November 16 at the iconic Ramlila Maidan and marks the second phase of the board’s Tahaffuz-e-Auqaf campaign, which aims to protect Waqf properties—Muslim endowments that include mosques, madrasas, and other charitable institutions.
The AIMPLB asserts that the legislation undermines the autonomy of these institutions and threatens community endowments. The event is expected to showcase significant unity, drawing a large crowd from Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.
Political and religious leaders from multiple parties, including the Congress, NCP, Samajwadi Party, and the Aam Aadmi Party, are anticipated to attend the meeting to voice their strong opposition to the controversial law.
