Indian Media Activists Protest Deepening Class Divide and Social Inequality

Media activists and social experts in India have raised alarm over the country’s widening class divide and extreme economic inequality, warning of serious social repercussions.

According to Kashmir Reader, which drew on both Islamic and universal humanitarian values, the growing gap between the rich and poor threatens social justice and human dignity. The outlet emphasized that human worth must be measured by justice and integrity, not wealth or social standing.

Experts highlighted stark contrasts in living conditions: while some elites reside in mansions adorned with gold and expansive gardens, millions of impoverished citizens sleep on the streets without shelter. Activists argue that such disparities erode social solidarity and foster resentment among marginalized communities.

Media voices further criticized the wealthy for straying from ethical and humanitarian responsibilities, saying their extravagant lifestyles and indifference to the poor have fueled public discontent.

Religious figures in India added that Islamic and broader moral teachings call for the elimination of inequality and respect for human dignity, rejecting any discrimination based on class or wealth.

Kashmir Reader also noted that women and children in lower classes bear the harshest consequences of poverty and social exclusion, facing barriers to education, health, and social development.

Social experts warn that if unchecked, these disparities could spark wider unrest, deepen social crises, and weaken national cohesion. Civil society activists argue that the only path toward a fair and sustainable society lies in reviving human values and working collectively to bridge the class divide.
