The Ghazi Miyan Dargah in Gorgi village, Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh, India, was vandalised late on August 16, triggering unrest among the local Muslim community, Muslim Mirror reported. According to eyewitnesses, unidentified individuals entered the shrine at night and damaged the tomb. The incident sparked anger, with many residents gathering at the police station demanding swift action.
Community leaders condemned the attack, calling it an attempt to inflame communal tensions and harm religious sentiments. They linked the incident to a broader pattern of attacks on Muslim religious sites across the country, citing ongoing disputes involving places like Gyanvapi and Ajmer Dargah.
Authorities responded promptly, with SDM Anurag Tiwari assuring that repairs were underway and peace was being maintained. DSP Himani Pathak confirmed a case was registered against unknown suspects and that the investigation is ongoing. Police presence around the dargah has been increased to prevent further disturbances. Local leaders urged stronger protections for religious sites to safeguard communal harmony in the region.
