India’s NIA Uncovers Alleged Hit List Targeting Muslim Scholars by Banned Extremist Group

In a disturbing revelation that has sent shockwaves through India and the broader Muslim world, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of India has uncovered a chilling assassination list reportedly compiled by the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), targeting prominent Muslim scholars and religious leaders.

According to details obtained during a series of security raids, the PFI not only plotted attacks against leaders of other faiths but also planned to eliminate Muslim figures who opposed the group’s extremist ideology. The individuals were allegedly labeled as “infidels” simply for rejecting the PFI’s violent approach and advocating for a more moderate interpretation of Islam.

Authorities say they recovered documents and audio recordings indicating that members of the group were undergoing assassination training and preparing for coordinated attacks in the southern state of Kerala. The evidence includes detailed information on the intended targets, such as their names, ages, professions, and even photographs.

Beyond the assassination plans, the NIA alleges that the PFI maintained ties with international terrorist networks, including ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Investigators claim the group recruited youth by distorting religious teachings, turning them into instruments of violence and chaos.

Perhaps most concerning is the revelation that the PFI allegedly operated through a web of front organizations under the guise of civil society and religious advocacy groups—such as “Empower India Foundation” and the “All India Imams Council”—to disguise its activities and push its radical agenda. The findings have raised alarm over the extent of extremist infiltration and underscore the need for vigilance against groups exploiting religion for violent ends.
