Indian Child Handwrites Entire Quran at Age Nine
…………………
In a remarkable display of dedication and early connection to the Holy Quran, nine-year-old Mohammed Madlaj from Kerala, India, has completed a handwritten copy of the entire Quran over two and a half years.
Mohammed began this ambitious project in December 2022 at just six years old, inspired by his participation in a local competition for children under seven. Determined to complete the task on his own, he meticulously transcribed the Quran using a pencil and A4 sheets, paying close attention to Arabic calligraphy and diacritical marks.
He devoted about an hour each day to the work, supported by his family, with his mother supervising and helping to correct any errors. Mohammed finished writing the final page on May 26, 2025.
To ensure accuracy, a team of Quran memorizers carefully reviewed the manuscript over two months, comparing it to the standardized text part by part.
The achievement has drawn praise locally and internationally, serving as an inspiring example for young Muslims and encouraging deeper engagement with the Quran through memorization, calligraphy, and reflection from an early age.
