Hyderabad police arrested a Muslim man on June 28, 2025, following his alleged derogatory comments about Hindu deities and idol worship at a local eatery in Narayanguda, Muslim Mirror reported. The incident occurred on the night of June 27 during a dispute over change after a Rs 450 bill.

Eyewitnesses and a video circulating online show the man demanding Rs 140 in change and expressing anger toward the shop owners. He reportedly said, “I am a Muslim and I am steadfast in my faith. These people worship stones,” referring to idol worship. This sparked outrage among other customers, leading to a confrontation and police intervention.

Narayanguda Station House Officer U Chandra Shekar confirmed the arrest, stating the man was booked under Sections 302 (hurting religious sentiments), 196 (disturbing communal harmony), and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He has been remanded to 14 days in judicial custody, with his identity withheld to prevent communal unrest.

Authorities urged the public to maintain peace and avoid sharing provocative content online.
