India: Calligraphy Show Exhibits Spirit of Muharram

The 17th International Calligraphy and Heritage Exhibition, centered on the theme of Muharram, opened at the State Lalit Kala Academy in Lucknow, The Times of India reported. Organized by One Wise Trust in collaboration with the UP Urdu Academy and Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Memorial Committee, the exhibition honors the virtues of sacrifice and spiritualism. Over 100 artists from countries including Iran, Iraq, Spain, and London, along with local students from Karamat College and Unity College, are participating.

The exhibition features diverse artworks such as calligraphy, paintings, and photography that reflect the spiritual and cultural essence of Muharram. Artists have employed unique techniques to depict religious themes, including verses from the Qur’an and imagery of Karbala. Visitors have praised the talent on display, particularly highlighting the contributions of women artists and the educational value for children learning about Muharram.

Organizers emphasize that the exhibition aims to spread Imam Hussain’s message of humanity and foster unity through the universal language of art. The event is open to the public from 11 am to 6 pm until July 3.
