India: Bhopal Police Officer Removed from Duty After Video Shows Him Barring Muslim Trainers from Gym

A police officer in Bhopal was removed from active duty and attached to the lines after a video emerged showing him instructing a gym owner to bar Muslim trainers and trainees, The Times of India reported.
The incident occurred recently in Ayodhya Nagar when Bajrang Dal members objected to Muslim trainers at a local gym, prompting police intervention. Sub-Inspector Dinesh Sharma, among the responding officers, was recorded saying, “No Muslim will come here to give or take training. I have made this clear to you.”
Following public outrage, an internal inquiry was launched, and Sharma was relieved of field duties pending further investigation.
BJP MP from Bhopal, Alok Sharma, appeared to support the officer’s stance, stating that a “list of Muslim trainers would be given to police.” He emphasized that female clients should be trained exclusively by female instructors and insisted that authorities would act according to the law to prevent what he called “love jihad.”
