Tension in Telangana After Mob Attacks Madrasa, Dargah Over False Idol Desecration Claims

A mob allegedly linked to Hindutva groups attacked a madrasa and set fire to parts of a dargah in Telangana’s Jinnaram village on April 23, accusing Muslim students of vandalizing Shiva idols, Muslim Mirror reported. Police later confirmed through CCTV footage that monkeys were responsible for the damage.
During the violence, students and teachers at Taleem ul Quran madrasa were assaulted, and the nearby Hazrat Gharib Shah Wali shrine was partially burned. Local Muslims protested, demanding action, while AIMIM MLA Kausar Mohiuddin and Congress leaders pressed authorities to arrest the perpetrators.
This marks the second such incident this year in Sangareddy district. In February, right-wing groups falsely blamed Muslims for desecrating a Hanuman temple before CCTV revealed a cat as the culprit. Police have registered cases but made no arrests yet.
