Modi’s BJP Wins Delhi Assembly Elections for First Time in Nearly 3 Decades

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reclaimed power in Delhi, winning 46 of the 70 assembly seats, marking a significant victory over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which secured 21 seats, according to Anadolu Agency. This is the BJP’s first win in Delhi in nearly 30 years.

Modi hailed the victory as “resounding and historic,” emphasizing a commitment to development and good governance. The AAP, led by Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, acknowledged the mandate but vowed to continue their fight against what they termed the BJP’s “dictatorship.” The Congress party failed to win any seats in this election.

During the campaigning, the outgoing ruling party had alleged that the Election Commission of India was “protecting the wrongdoing” of the Bharatiya Janata Party, a charge denied by the poll body.
