BJP Leader Nitesh Rane Calls for Burqa Ban in Maharashtra Exams

Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Nitesh Rane has demanded a ban on wearing burqas during the upcoming state board examinations for Std 10th and 12th, citing security concerns and potential examination malpractices, Muslim Mirror reported. In a letter to the state’s school education minister, Rane argued that religious attire should be restricted to homes and places of worship.

He expressed worries that burqas could facilitate cheating through hidden electronic devices, urging the deployment of female police officers for security checks. Rane emphasized the need for fairness, stating that if students from other communities do not wear religious attire, Muslims should not be exempt.

Reinforcing his stance, he referred to a previous resolution allowing burqas in exam halls and called for its revocation. The Maharashtra Secondary School Certificate exams for Class 10 are scheduled to begin on February 21, while the Higher Secondary Certificate exams for Class 12 will commence on February 11. The school education ministry has yet to respond to Rane’s demands.

This trend reflects a broader pattern of anti-Islam agenda pushed by the Nationalist BJP Government led by Prime Minister Modi.
