Police station to be constructed opposite Shahi Jama Masjid in UP’s Sambhal
In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, a new police outpost will be built opposite the Shahi Jama Masjid to enhance security following recent violence, India TV reported yesterday. The area survey has been completed, and construction is set to begin soon in the Kot Garvi neighborhood.
Additional Superintendent of Police Shrish Chandra stated that the outpost aims to provide a continuous police presence, operating round-the-clock. This initiative comes after clashes on November 24, which resulted in four fatalities and injuries to several others during a court-ordered survey of the mosque site, where a petition claimed a temple once existed.
Additionally, the local administration has commenced the renovation and excavation of the ancient “Mrityu Kup” (well of death) in Kot Purvi, aimed at restoring its spiritual significance. Local councillor Gagan Varshney emphasized the importance of this site, which is revered by locals for its mythological value.
